* It also detoxifies your whole body before starting the plan.

Drawbacks

* Dr. Ian Smith's 4 day diet may not be liked by those who do not want to follow a certain routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Whats a good diet/ weight loss plan for women with polycystic ovaries?
I exercise nearly every day when i am not in too much pain, i walk to and from school too. I also eat healthily. Any other tips or suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
The products on this site have proven women well, especially with internal problems as they help to reconstruct the insides and put everything back where it is suppose to be. I am not sure what that means what you have but I am sure this garment might help a little bit...

  2. QUESTION:
Why is almost every diet plan and weight loss center focused on women?
I am a guy that cares about my health and looks and want to lose weight but almost every commercial I see for weight loss is only meant for women such as diet pills, diet food plans, and gyms/weightloss centers. Why don't they have stuff for both men and women or at least have the same amount of stuff focus on men's weightloss?

    • ANSWER:
hydroxycut, good product, gears towards both. so does lipo-6. i think its just the tv ads that you are getting this interpretation. if you pick up any issue of "Flex" magazine, or "Muscle & Fitness" and you will see all kinds of ads for men.

Woman watch more tv during the day, house wives, then men do. thus, it would be good marketing that they are geared towards woman.

  5. QUESTION:
    Weight Loss Diet Plan?
I am 6ft tall woman who weighs 168lbs - i would like to loose 15 - 20lbs by Halloween. I run my own business and am extremely busy so long workouts really dont work for me - does anyone have a diet plan thats easy to follow and would allow to loose that weight? also, i am vegan so hope that is not too much of a problem - thank you!

    • ANSWER:
Cut out all simple carbs including white flours, white pasta, and of course desserts. Get rid of all sugar in diet. One really good natural sweetener that's good to use if you ever get a really bad craving for something sweet that will not make you gain weight that even diabetics can use is xylitol (My personal favorite because it has no aftertaste and tastes almost the same thing as sugar except better). You can buy this from the health food store but make sure the xylitol you buy is not taken from corn. Another good one is honey and Agave syrup. Agave syrup is from a cactus plant. There's also Stevia to use as a sweetener except this has a bad aftertaste :( . All these sweeteners are natural which is good for your health unlike Splenda or Sweet n Low which can over a long period of time, turn to formaldehyde in the brain (which can kill you). Always remember to only eat fruits and vegetables, nuts, grains, and natural healthy sweeteners. Do not eat too many dairy products either. And always remember to keep it at three meals a day.

  7. QUESTION:
What is the best fitness/diet plan for obese women?
I'm looking for some advice on the best weight loss exercise plan for obese women.I'm a little over 300 pounds and I'm 5'5'' and only 21 I'm looking for a weight loss plan for a beginner to start with.I already know about sparkpeople.com So please any other sites with information or any diet programs that are cheap or free for beginners.

    • ANSWER:
Start slow. Doing too much at once decreases your chances of sticking to a workout plan. Try walking for 10-15 minutes at a brisk pace (you can adjust this if it is too much or too little). As this gets easier for you, increase your time by a few minutes. You want to do this most days of the week (at least 5), although it may be best to start with 3 days/week and work up from there. Set goals for yourself. For example, in one month be able to walk for 30 minutes, 4 days/week. In 2 months be able to walk for 45 minutes. As you are able to increase the time that you workout for, you will be able to burn more calories, which will help you to burn fat faster. Since you are overweight, you don't want to do too much too quickly because this could lead to sore knees, which would discourage you from working out. Another great option, that is easy on the knees is riding a bike. Good luck! Stay positive and stick to a routine and you will get the results you want.

  8. QUESTION:
Women - Would you pay money for weight loss?
I have battled with weight for about 6 years since I hit my early twenties. Due stress, comfort eating and pure lack of exercise. However in the last couple of years I tried all sorts, gym every day, atkins, reducing calories etc - and in general I don't eat junk because we never buy any.

I lost half of what I wanted to lose to start with and another half this year. I did it by quitting the conventional diets and following a plan I made for myself after understanding my body, metabolism etc.

I really think that a lot of people would benefit from and and see results, however in order for me to share my experience it would take me a long time to write everything for others to follow, that's why I was thinking of starting a diet / weight loss book or programme of some sort? I would have to write this book / programme and it would take long and don't want to be disappointed with no sales.

I know it works - but how many of you would pay for a diet / weigth loss programme. [Not a get skinny quick thing - but you see results in week one or even a few days] - there are no side effects and I would want my customers to verify with their physician before they decide to follow through.

If you have had weight issues and struggled or are still struggling would you pay? My idea is to split it into 3 phases, so that after pase one clients who see change will come back for phase 2 ( / £10 per phase) etc.

    • ANSWER:
      Most certainly....... . I would pay. :}

  9. QUESTION:
Can I get over my weight loss plateau without increasing calorie intake and excersize?
I excersize 1 hour each day, and walk about 1:30 hours. I think that's more than enough really. I'm not about to do more. And my calorie intake is low because I'm a raw food vegan and I really don't want to stuff myself with tons more of veggies and fruit when I don't have the taste for it.

I am reading that these are things I do have to do though, in order to lose more weight.

    I don't believe that.

Well how then do all those anorexic girls lose weight? I'm sure they don't eat more to lose more weight.

I'm not comparing myself to a diseased woman, I'm just asking if I can continue with my normal excersize/diet plan and get over this weight loss plateau?

  10. QUESTION:
Is there a targeted diet or exercise method to reduce weight for my middle section?
I increased my amount of exercise with a lot more walking, cut out soft drinks and have lost a great deal of weight in all my extremities it seems. My thighs, my bottom, my arms, all thinner but I still carry a lot of weight around the middle with a fairly droopy stomach. Is there any exercises I can do or different diet plan that will specifically target the middle section? Any other women have this issue? Is this the last area where weight loss occurs?

    • ANSWER:
      You have two options.

You can cut calories and perform crunches like crazy, try one of the hot new incredible infomercial ab devices and buy the lastest new and improved "fat burner".

Also there is another option but it is not too popular. Eat right, Understand functions of the abdominal muscles, work the body as a whole, and allow for ongoing fat release.

Of all of two options, there is only one that "works," all of the time. Unfortunately, it "appears" to be the most complicated.

      You can read about the real Ab-Solution at the link below;

      http://charlesblain.com/blog/?p=28

DO NOT continue doing something just because "THEY" say it's the way things should be done. Allow yourself to choose the solution that will work for you, regardless of what it may be. The only way for you to know who is right is to measure your progress and ACTUALLY track your results.

CHANGE IS HARD, but it's also worth it. Not getting results makes change EXTREMELY HARD.

Get support from friends, family or a coach. Losing weight is not as hard at it seems once you know what to do.

Visit http://www.charlesblain.com for the best weight loss exercises.

  11. QUESTION:
At age 47 and still struggling to keep a healthy weight, what plan/diet would you recommend that I follow?
I have struggled with weight control for most of my life. I am currently in a counseling group and have dealt with past issues. I am a working, married women of two "twenty-something" children and I want to be healthy and enjoy my future grandchildren and retired life with my husband. I can't stop thinking about my weight and how "out of control" my eating has become.

I have tried several diets and find that I tire of the "same ole same ole food." I exercise regularly for a while (months) and then I don't exercise or even "want" to exercise for months. I am pary-menopausal and I do take a mood altering medication to help with mood swings and a topical nature progesterone cream to assist with night sweats, hot flashes, memory loss, etc.

My weight is my ball and chain and I would love to get rid of it forever. Food should not be my focus, fun, laughs and love should be. Any suggestions?

Ok so i had an amazing body when i was in high school. I was a gymnast so i was very lean.. now i'm 25-30pounds over weight. I have been over weight for 4-5 years now. I was 135 before all of this (5'5) I carry my weight fairly well but you can really tell in my legs (No tan, cellulite, and no muscle) I yo-yo with my weight a lot..idk maybe all those magic weight loss plans i did! NOT SMART! So yes iv done every weight loss diet ever (that's not what i'm looking for) Not only that i realized every time i would lose weight it was only because i saw a very fit old friend, a vacation, or just a very tone women. I know that's not good because i never did it for me. It honestly makes me sad to think those were my only intentions...but i'm done i'm finally motivated to do this for me. I chose a fit healthy body. I'm asking you how can i seriously lose this weight?(in a healthy not starving kinda way) I know i need to work out but what do i need to do? ...i also want to say i'm looking to look defined. Not super cut up just thick muscular legs a fit belly and tone defined arms.

    Breakfast?
    lunch?
    dinner?

...and just any good tips :) Thank you so much for taking the time!

    Please positive answers. Thanks everyone

    • ANSWER:
Its simple. Just only eat when your hungry and eat very very slowly and try to notice when you become slow. Dont eat in front of the tv. Do 30 to 60 minutes of cardio every day.
Breakfast: 1 egg with salt and pepper, piece of toast with 1/2 a tablespoon of low fat fake butter, and 1 glass of lowfat or skim milk (Milk is proven to leave you fuller and more satisfied longer.)
Breakfast option 2: A grape fruit with a cup of cereal and a cup of milk.
Lunch: Some sort of fish (Or maybe even sushi :) Yumm!) and steamed veggies of your choice. Water or a glass of milk.
Dinner: Lean chicken or fish. Brown rice with a LITTLE butter and salt. Steamed veggies. Maybe like a steamed sweet potatoe for something sweet.
TIPS: Dont eat after six. This helps ALOT I found. Chew gum. It burns calories. Make sure to laugh alot. It burns calories. Kiss your boyfriend as much as possible. This also burns calories. If you have a bf. Or you dont even have to have 3 meals a day. Have six snacks whenever your hungry. Make sure its healthy. No granola bars or poptarts lol. Or chips. Stick with fresh fruits, a handful of nuts, or raw veggies and ranch. Or some oatmeal with apple chunks or bannanna chunks in it. The possibilities are endless so get creative!
      Hope I helped! :)

How about just eating the right foods like oatmeal, blueberries, strawberries, apples, Fage Total 0% greek plain yogurt, whole wheat pita bread, protein shake, protein bar, brown rice, chicken, fish, egg whites, beans (low in sodium) veggies, 100% whole grain cereal, almond milk (unsweetened), dried fruits, almonds...

You will need to eat 5-6 SMALL meals a day and 8-12 glasses of water a day. Also, you want to exercise. You can exercise monday-thursday doing 2 days of cardio and 2 days of weight training. Also, work on ur abs and do 8 minute abs video on youtube. You can work your abs on a daily basis. In those 5-6 meals you can have a protein shake and a protein bar or just 2 protein shakes a day. I recommend for the protein shake: EAS, Elite or Champion, and for the protein bar: Power Crunch Bar or EAS with 28g of protein and 1-2g of sugar. If you are going to do the protein bar and the shake I recommend you eat the protein bar after your workout and the protein shake before bed. Good luck.

Allot of women i know who are trying to lose weight very rarely exercise and tend to try out slimming tablets and diets. Why do more men exercise to lose weight than women? Are women just lazy? Question about weight loss/ diet!!!! PLEASE TELL ME WHAT's going on with my body!!!?
For the past 6 weeks, i've been working out like a mad woman, daily for the most part. I mean i have missed a few days here and there but you know what I mean.

I've mostly been doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred dvd which includes a strength training/cardio combo...along with independent strength training, cardio, dancing and following a healthy diet

HOWEVER, my clothes have recently gotten tighter....and when I say recently I mean clothes that fit nicely 2 weeks ago are now VERY snug.....

Please tell me what's going on, I'm very depressed and very discourage at this point. I don't plan on giving up but I'm going back to school soon and I don't want to look swollen you know...I want my clothes to fit nicely and reflect my hard work over the summer

    • ANSWER:
I've had the same thing happen to me...
I was told that I was burning fat but I was actually increasing my muscle so that is where the tightness was coming form..

  16. QUESTION:
I NEED a healthy weight loss plan that works!?
I am so frustrated! I have been eating healthy--lean protein, veggies, fruits, healthy fats, no sugar and exercising--weights 3 times a week and walking 30 minutes every day and 60 minutes 2 times a week, and I am not losing inches or weight. I have tried the Abs Diet for Women, South Beach, 6 Weeks to Lose Your Middle-aged Middle, the New Me Diet and Weight Watchers. What am I doing wrong? I am 5'7" and weigh 172 pounds. My goal is to weight 140 pounds and lose the belly fat. I definitely store most of my fat in my stomach. Does anyone have something they have tried that works? I have to eat every 2-3 hours or I get shaky and have terrible headaches. I am not looking for a quick fix. I would like a healthy diet where I can lose 2 pounds a week and KEEP it off!

    • ANSWER:
It is very unhealthy to loose too much weight too quickly but, here are some tips to get you started...
Counting calories is a huge pain because everything that you put in your mouth that isn't strait clear water has calories. So I advise you to work out first and foremost. Try going to crossfit.com it is an awesome training and workout regimen. Then cut any drink with sugar, aspartame, and caffeine out of your diet. Drink nothing but ICE cold water to help burn calories. A calorie is the unit of measure that explains the amount of energy used to raise one ml of water one degree. The colder the water the more calories burned. Your body will need to regenerate itself though so, eat meals high in protein and low carbohydrates and fat. Protein helps to rebuild muscle. Your body uses carbs for energy and without a high intake of carbs and fat your body will start to use any stored fat that you have. In your case you also sound like you are retaining water in the fat that you do have. Sit in a sauna for 15 to 20 minutes after your workout and cut your salt and sodium intake in half. Remember, most people that say they want to lose weight really want to lose fat and this sounds likr the case for you. Muscle weighs more than fat but would you rather loose fat and gain muscle or loose both fat and muscle? Allot of times when people diet they starve themselves, the body will then start to use fat and muscle as fuel. Good luck and be careful not to loose too fast. I hope my advise works out for you.

    • ANSWER:
You can lose a lot of weight just by changing the way that you eat. One of the easiest ways to lose weight is to eat less food but more often. The way I do this is to divide my daily calorie maximum by six. Here’s an example.

Let’s say that I want to lose weight by eating only 1200 calories per day. Instead of eating 3 meals a day of 400 calories each, I’m going to do it differently.

Instead, I’m going to eat 6 meals a day of 200 calories each...read more here on how you shd eat to lose weight:

  18. QUESTION:
Is this a good weight loss plan?
    Diet-
8 cups of water a day
    3 meals and 1-2 snacks a day
    lots of fruits and veggies
whole grain and whole wheat foods
plenty of beans, nuts, eggs, and lentils
not too much of dairy products (instead eat soy products)
    1 day a week free

    Exercise-
    Every other day
    strength-
pushups- 3 sets of 5-10 reps
situps- 3 sets of 10-20 reps
    cardio-
    biking, swimming, walking, jogging, etc.
    20-60 minutes
stretch before and after each workout- 5-10 minutes

I also plan to use the diet pill curvatrim that is good for women losing weight. I hope to lose 30-40 pounds in about 3 months (by Christmas)
Do you think I can do it? Can you give me any advice on what else I can do, what I should change, and tips to help me lose weight faster, easier, or more efficiently?

    Thank you.....

    • ANSWER:
You might lose weight with soy now, but it will come back and bite you in the butt with health problems and probably weight gain, later. It will screw up your endocrine system, too. ONLY use naturally fermented soy, like organic soy sauce.

To lose weight the fastest with exercise:
rebound on trampoline or safe rebounder every day to detox you of toxins that cling to extra water weight - helps get rid of weight, toxins and cellulite, and tones EVERYTHING. More effective than running, and better on your joints.

Body wraps can help shift fat but you HAVE to be diligent to drink water and avoid fat, caffeine and sugar or the fat just re-deposits. Benefits: shifts toxins out, compresses tissue so it is firmer and smaller than before, now that the toxins and their buffering excess water weight have been transferred out. The cells actually "stick back together" closer than before.

Beware of too much cardio, it teaches your body to use and store fat effectively unless you diet brutally.

Use a program like Jorge Cruise's 12-second sequence or Rob Poulos Fat Burning Furnace or Shapely Secrets intensive isometrics to really, really push your muscles. This will pump up your fat burning more than cardio, and it will pump it up all the time. If you do sit ups, please, please be kind to your neck. Do comprehensive workouts so you don't get out of balance.

Your water plan and multiple meal plan usually works great for people at this stage of dieting, and your free day is highly recommended by many experts. To lose weight at a consistent pace, you'll want to keep your calorie intake in check at each meal, while at the same time making sure you get plenty of calories each day to build muscle. Digestive enzymes will help prevent undigested material from pooching out your belly (soy inhibits digestion, and can slowly lead to a pooch. So do most whole grain products that are available today, because of the way they are prepared. Stick with sprouted whole grain breads to minimize this problem). Take high quality probiotics.

Do a metabolic typing test. Some people lose weight much, much easier when they eat according to their type. You can eat all the lean chicken you want, but if you need fatty lamb to balance your metabolism, you aren't going to lose weight very easily eating lean chicken, and you'll feel crappier than you need to, to boot. There are tests online, look for Dr. Wolcott's, he's one of the foremost guys in the field. Dr. Mercola is another resource that is available easily online. Or try your library or Amazon to get books to help you do this. Look for Wolcott's book on Metabolic Typing, Mercola's Total Health books, Rudolf Wiley's Biobalance I and II.

I'm using phentramin-d for many weeks and I can recommend that it works. I've also seem that some of the websites fake up their recommendations. So, you can say that diet pills are either fake or have harmful effects.

I've done extensive research and came to the conclusion that the reviews and user recommendations on http://buy-phentramin.com. According the experts, phentramin-d is the most effective diet pill with no substitute for it at all. It has a new chemical composition which is not herbal based. The dual effect of phentramin-d is due to the compound 1,3-Dimethylpentylamine simulates norepinephrine, causing an increase in your body's metabolism. http://buy-phentramin.com

  20. QUESTION:
Some easy diet plans, if this doesn't work?
everyday, i take the one a day weight loss for women vitamins, do yoga, strength training, and weight loss activities, such as dance, running, boxing, and im going on a no carb diet plan, i plan on going away in in june, if i do this, do you think i will lose 20 punds by then, im 138, and 5''5, and can someone give me what i can and can't eat on a no carb diet?

    • ANSWER:
You can lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter & half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high & the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers & more variety of vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different & depends on how active you are.)

Start with meat, fats & salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.

The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate & store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing & store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.

Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) & exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at >65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

It takes minimum of 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.

Carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice, beans) trigger insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone). Protein triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon.

Simple carbs are addictive & can be disastrous to health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want "something" - have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese - pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad - steaks - a huge sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone & you can start making healthy choices.

High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise.

Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.

As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Many people gain weight on high carb, do low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb & gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar & maintain weight or health.

I am adamantly opposed to low calorie dieting because most people lose a good portion of lean tissue (including vital organs like the heart) along with fat stores. There is no nutrition in fat stores, only energy. Most people get impatient and lower their calories and increase their exercise to a point where they lose so much lean tissue that when they return to what was maintenance level eating they are now accumulating more fat stores because their caloric needs have dropped due to the loss of this tissue as well as their metabolism slowing down to work more efficiently on fewer calories & it becomes a vicious cycle of dieting and more loss (including vital organs like the heart). This stress to the vital organs cannot be healthy.

  21. QUESTION:
I've decided to start an intensive weight loss program...how does my plan sound?
I'm 6'3", around 235 (I'll know for sure tomorrow at the gym). I'm not stuck on numbers, but I'm guessing I'll need to lose at least 75 lbs before I'm satisfied. My main goals are to lose my broad shoulders and chest. I know that some guys with they were bigger, but that means nothing to me. I really don't care what other people find attractive, and I'm not interested in any of the women who want some big strong man to protect them.

As my pic will demonstrate, I have a very long way to go. As far as diet is concerned, my plan is to stick to low-carb, low-fat, and not to eat until one hour after my stomach starts to rumble. I find a lot of times I eat just as an excuse - because I'm bored or because it's a certain time of day or because I feel like it - and I'm interested to see how much I would eat per day if I only ate when I was really, truly hungry.

I don't have some strict timeline to lose this much weight...I'm presuming it will take me till summer to lose it all. As for exercise, I'm going to stick to only cardio. I'm asking for new running shoes for Christmas since the cheap ones I bought give me blisters if I run too much, so until then, it will be 20 min on the treadmill, 20 on the Stairmaster, and 20 on the elliptical, seven days a week.

    http://s385.photobucket.com/albums/oo296/curseofdolkite/?action=view&current=atfalls.jpg

Oh, just to add...I don't think I'm hugely obese. I'm slightly to moderately overweight. I'm not hung up on number goals...I just want to lose my broad shoulders and chest, and I'm presuming I'll need to lose something like 75 lbs. I hate being seen as a big guy (I don't care if others think it's a good thing), so that's the main reason I'm doing this.

Oh, and PLEASE don't post links for gimmick diet plans. I will report anyone as spam if they send me a link for a gimmick diet (I'm talking to you, you Medifast zealots).
may - Maybe I shouldn't be giving advice since I'm overweight, but I really think the #1 thing people can do to both reduce their monthly food bill AND get healthier is to learn to cook. People always whine about how they don't have time, but I don't buy it. Yeah, it's easier to hit the drive-in instead of preparing a meal, but what you make at home will almost certainly be both healthier and cheaper than you get in restaurants.

As far as disliking veggies...I don't love raw veggies (except carrots and celery), but try making stir fry with beef or chicken. Stir fry is full of veggies but they will be cooked and seasoned.

    • ANSWER:
You need some help. Low fat is NOT the way to go to lose weight. That is a starvation diet and you will get very frustrated and have many plateaus on your way to becoming anemic. The typical diets being followed by Americans today are "diet dream team" inventions designed to keep you on that diet. It's quite amazing how endoctrination is the standard in America today and NOT education.

Our understanding of marketing far exceeds any other disciplined study and especially the misinformation that is being spread by these marketing geniuses that are driving these so called "food experts" that are nothing more than "hired guns" of the food and agricultural industries that have successfully been able to make America one of the sickest nations on earth while convincing everyone they are wonderful.

I strongly suggest before you start ANY diet, you read the book called, "Life Without Bread" by Christian Allan, Ph.d. This book will give you some actual educated look at how your body works and what you need to manage your weight very successfully and still remain healthy and not require some lunatic diet being promoted by a profit driven "food expert."

      good luck to you

  22. QUESTION:
Strength training program for women? [weight loss?] PLEASE HELP!?
Im on a diet and im doing cardio, now i just need to add in strength training for weight loss, i want to lose the stomach fat and the thigh fat, can anyone make me a plan for strength training at home or tell me what your doing? Im not in a gym, i do my exercising at home. 3 day or a 4 day plan would be wonderful! Please help! thanks.

    • ANSWER:
It's very hard to lose weight in a specific area because like gaining weight, the body just does it wherever it wants to. Diet and exercise are great, but in your case, you want to build muscle which will burn even more fat. I would suggest buying a couple sets of free weights (such as two five pounds and two ten pound weights) and then trying some of these exercises:

      http://www.strength-training-woman.com/strength-training-exercises.html

There are sections that tell you what muscle group the exercises target, but I would try to work out every muscle group possible. The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to alternate muscle groups on Monday and Wednesday, then Tuesday and Thursday. For example, focus on upper body/arms on MW and on TR focus on lower body/legs. Just pick a few exercises and do those for a couple of weeks and then pick new exercises that work the same muscle groups for the next couple of weeks. That way the body doesn't get used to a certain motion and it will continue to build muscle.

  23. QUESTION:
    I'm Looking For A Weight Loss Pen-Pal/Buddy?
Well, more of an email pal as this is the 21st century and everything. Anyways! I'm looking for someone who's willing to be my weight-loss pen-pal. While I'm not particularly picky about gender, I would feel most comfortable emailing another woman. I'd also really appreciate it if you were in the 15-30 year old range (I'm 19). Summer is approaching, and I really need to lose 45 lbs before then (I have 4 months!). I think having someone to help motivate me will really help.

    What I'm looking for:

-Any gender (though female preferred) between the ages of 15 and 30
-Someone seriously looking to lose weight for the summertime (doesn’t matter how much). Please be motivated!
-Someone willing to email regularly (at least once a week).
-Someone willing to discuss exercise and diet plans.
-Someone willing to help motivate and encourage me.

In turn, I will also help discuss your exercise/diet plans. I'll do my best to motivate and encourage you, and be someone you can talk to when you're in need of help, advice, and support.

If you're interested, just send me a PM. Or answer this and I'll send you a PM. I hope to hear from someone.
    Alex- message sent!
Kalya and Nicole- there's no way to reach you. If you're still interested, please go to my profile and send me a message. I'd rather not post my email address publicly ^^" Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I'd be interested. I've already lost 20 lbs since the Fall, so I have a bit more to go. But we can definitely motivate each other.

  24. QUESTION:
Does anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?
I'm a female from the UK, I'm 17 years of age, weigh 72.5kg/159.5lbs and I want to lose 22kg/48.4lbs. I'm 5"8. I want to achieve this weight over a period of time and I'm looking for someone whose of the same age, and hopefully same sex as women and men loose weight at different rates.

I want to lose this weight over 12-14 months as I feel this is realistic and sustainable. This would mean a weight loss of only 1.8kg/4lbs a month and 0.45kg/1lbs weekly. I've made a diet plan of some sort and also have timed out a regular exercise session each day and I would just like someone to talk to whose in a similar situation so that we can support each other and help one another out. I would like to start this as soon, so if your interested email me as soon as possible.

    Thank you.
Abigail I would love it if u were my partner- im not sure how to contact you! My email is IWTBTFL@live.co.uk.

Last thing...she is leaving it up to me to do whatever I want with her, so I want to tone her up while having her loose maybe 10 pounds over the next couple of months. Hope that helps. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Ok everyone when I said girlfriend, I mean a girl that is my friend. It is still ok to have those once you get married right? Besides I have not spoken to this female friend in about 2 years so there is no way for me to have her get with my wife to help me train her. But the last time I spoke with her I asked her some advice on what she does and that is where the protein question came about. She takes a gram per pound of body weight. So, do you suggest the same.

    • ANSWER:
Is your wife as fit as you are?
I have a 3 y/o with no kid friendly gyms around, so I bought a pedometer. Strangely enough, it made me want to walk/run everywhere.

I don't use any supplements. I have tried some, like green tea and xenadryne, but I didnt get ANY results. Nothing noticeable anyhow.

Im sure a fitness trainer could give you better advice.

Weight loss in a safe and timely manner...?
My name is Mya, I am 19 years old 5’6 and weigh 244lbs . I am in serious need of help with losing weight. I don’t mind working out but when I go to the gym after 20 min. I have to leave- not because I can’t take the burn; but because the pressure from my weight on my legs is so heavy I can’t take it.
I am not going to lie and say I have tried everything, I haven’t in fact I am sure there is a lot I haven’t tried, but I have 3 months to lose at least 65lbs so if you have any suggestions please, please help me. I have a hard time with what I eat. I know it’s a major contributor to my weight gain, or inability to lose weight. I don’t eat eggs, noodles, rice, anything from the water, any tofu or vegetarian stuff, any other meats besides ground beef, and certainly not some veggies. I sometimes get the naked drinks and carrots or apple packs- and I constantly drink water… but other than that my diet is pretty unhealthy! Is there anything out there for me?
I have a serious line of heart attacks in my family for the women. Every woman in my family has had heart attacks but my mom, me and my sisters. I do have blood pressure issues and am currently taking blood pressure med. I am not looking for diet pills or an easy way of losing weight. If you have an easy way, that won’t just take weight away and I gain it back later… Please share!!! I don’t have any money for fancy diet plans so I can’t do Jenny Craig or nutisystem. I need an at home, day-to-day plan.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and offer any help. I really need it and even more so, I appreciate it!

Eating celery, fish and salad will help a lot when wanting to lose weight. They are not magical foods that make you lose weight, but by eating those you will not eat stuff that does make you gain weight.
Same as drinking water instead of drinking beer,., wine, carbonated drinks.

  27. QUESTION:
No weight loss after 8 weeks following marathon training plan?
I have been following a running plan (from Nike+) for 8 weeks, with zero weight lost. My diet has been the same, no additional meals or snacks from the running. Should I see my doctor or is it normal to not lose weight (every week I am adding more miles, started with 10, then 14, 17, 18, 21, 25, 30) ?

Weight loss is not my primary goal but I was really hoping it would be a side benefit of preparing for the October Nike Women's marathon .
Also, my size is remaining the same, I cannot wear the smaller sizes that are languishing in my closet waiting to be worn again. My clothes are not yet loose on me!

Basically, muscle weighs more than fat. You are probably losing fat and gaining muscle. Your indication should be how your body looks and feels, not the weight.

I really want to loose some weight so im not putting my baby at as much of a risk as it would be if i didnt do anything about it. I havent got a clue what i can eat and cant eat. 29. QUESTION:
Weight Loss Surgery: Is it for me?
I am inquiring about a weight loss surgery as a last resort. I have literally tried every stupid diet, stupid weight loss supplements and shakes, proper dieting and excercising, but that's very hard for me to keep up on. There seems to be nothing really working out for me.

I am not an incredbily obese woman. I was just got weighed today at my gynecology appointment, and to my disappointment I found out I weigh 181 pounds and I am 5 feet 7 inches. I just checked out a BMI calculator and it told me my index is 28.3. According to the key, I am overweight but I'm not taking too much stock in that... That's just what it's telling me.

I really don't look like I weigh that much, but apparently I do and it's such a fucking bummer to me. I don't know what else to do, and I just want some help. It's hard changing your diet when no one else in your household really gives a damn about planning meals and preparing food the healthy way. I can't go out and buy separate groceries when I have so much to pay for myself, so I just what my mom makes because it's more convenient for me. I find excercising very off-putting but I try to do it, apart from my job; I'm a housekeeper and I'm always on the move but there's not much exertion coming out of that. It helps, I'm sure... but more could be done, and without a friend (which I sort of have none of in this city anymore) it's tough to keep going when I find things getting difficult.

I don't feel that I'm at risk for any diseases that would require me to get a weight loss surgery, but I feel like I'm at my wits end.

I'm asking anyone with knowledge on this matter, either from personal experience or from expert (ish) knowledge. I just need some guidance. I'm 21 years old, but I don't really think age is a huge factor in play on this subject. Just don't know what to doooo...

Shall I go to my doctor and just talk to him about it, maybe see what he suggests I do?

specific weight loss foods and exercises?
ok, i am 19 years old and just barely on the normal side, or just barely overweight on the bmi scale, a few websites told me different. im not overly obsessed with my figure like some women, and i have a boyfriend who loves me the way i am, but supports me no matter what. I am 164 pounds, 5'8, and ill tell ya why. I love going to restaurants, like my mother, and i do love food. i have a smaller waist with larger hips, larger ta-tas and larger legs. i would like a whole body workout plan so everything is proportional. my friend recently tried the special k diet plan with swimming and it works well for her. any advice? and yes, i know i will have to cut back on dining out =*( thats alright. i want to lose this weight so i can be happier with my self, and look average in a swimsuit =P

  31. QUESTION:
I've decided to start an extreme weight loss program...how does my plan sound?

Oh, postscript: do NOT post ads for Acai berry, Wu-Yi tea, or any other fad diet or magic cure. This site is rife with you people and trust me, whatever solution I end up going with is not going to include investing in some dumb miracle cure. I have worked in the corporate offices of an Herbalife-style fad diet company, so I'm well aware of how they prey on insecure and desperate people. Thanks.
Simeon - Thanks...while I did warn people against posting links, I do check out each one to make sure I don't report anyone simply for directing me to diet info.

Mitch - Thanks...however, I don't want to look muscular...that's why I chose to lose so much weight.
Just in case anyone says this....I tried personal trainers. i'm in no position to hire one anyway (and I don't need one), but they just told me I was crazy to want to lose so much weight and to "take advantage" of my size....in other words, they misunderstood me. I know I'm not obese (moderately overweight at best), but I want to appear smaller. My problem is not my stomach, but my upper body...broad shoulders and chest.
Okay, maybe "extreme weight loss" was a bad term to use. I'm not saying "I need to lose seven pounds a week" or "I need to lose 40 lbs by New Year's" or anything like that. I meant "extreme" as in "losing a lot of weight", not "losing a lot of weight in an unrealistic time span."
PLEASE read my full question. I don't think I'm hugely obese. As nice as it is for people to say, I don't care if others think it's great for a guy to have broad shoulders and a big chest....I hate it and that's why I want to lose an inordinate amount of weight.
I'm aware of the effect of multiple meals on metabolism, and if I were simply trying to get in shape, that's what I would be doing. However, my goal is to get as thin as I can, not to build muscle or simply get in shape.

    • ANSWER:
extreme dieting does not work. You need to have medical clearance. Meet with a registered dietician. If you joing a gym, you usually get a trainer to set up a program for you included in the membership. Most HMO these days in the US offer money towards gym memberships and weight loss programs.

Your bmi is 29.4. this is considered overweight. 30 is considered obese.

Avoid fad diets, diet pills. It is a long hard battle. On average you want to lose 1 pound a week. It is a lifestyle change if you want to keep the weight off. You need to combine cardio, weights, stretching and healthy eating. There is no quick fix. You did not gain the weight overnight and you will not loose it overnight.

Take it from someone who has been there.

  32. QUESTION:
    Need to loose some weight?
I am 40 year old and about 20 lbs over weight. I started kickboxing which is a great cardio work out and do it three times a week. I know diet is more than have the battle when loosing weight. I do not have the time to cook a lot of healthy meals and make sure I am eating right. I do my best, but sometimes I find myself eating out too much! I am thinking about the NutriSystem plan. I saw Dan Marino and some other ex football and baseball players pitching it and it appears NutriSystem has come a long way in the area of creating meals for men. Does anyone know anything about NutriSystem? Has anyone tried it? Man or woman...I just need some feed back. What about other weight loss plans?

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Since you are obviously still physically active I'd suggest concentrating less on diet and more on building muscle mass. Ultimately you will burn that excess fat once you create a deficit of calories in vs. energy out. The catch most people don't realize is when you diet (alone) your body adjusts its metabolism based on that intake. In other words if you drop your calories by 50% your metabolism might drop by 30-40%- only netting a 10-20% fat burning advantage. In the meantime you are hungry and have less energy. A better solution is to fine tune your diet towards low fat, lean protein and complex carbs but only reduce your caloric intake by 15-25%. That type of reduction at your age won't 'alarm' your body into reducing your metabolism & will keep your energy levels up allowing you to build muscle mass. As you build muscle mass you'll start burning excess fat 24/7. Cardio is great but only burns calories while your heart rate is up- to burn fat all day you need that extra muscle!

  34. QUESTION:
What consists of a healthy diet for a fifteen year old girl?
(If you want to skip this and get straight to the meat of the question, read the last paragraph.) I'm a fifteen year old girl, and my mother has recently gotten a full-time job. So most of the time, it's just me and my teenage older brothers. We have to make our own meals now, and since we always have people at our house, we don't have enough time between keeping the house presentable and entertaining our guests to make enough home cooked food for everyone. So, we've had a lot of instant meals and fast food lately.

The boys seem to do fine with it, but after several months, I'm beginning to have issues. I'm unable to sleep correctly, I'm getting irritable and sluggish, I get sick a whole lot easier, and I'm getting pains that indicate that I am just not getting the right nutrition.

I need to start eating right and soon. I know if I just say "Oh, I'll just eat more vegetables" I'll end up eating one carrot that week and say "Alright, I'm done." I need a plan, but I don't want to set myself up for a weight loss diet designed for women in their thirties. Is there any way I can set up a diet that is healthy and right for me?
I'm not trying to lose weight, I'm just trying to get healthy again so that I can properly function.

  35. QUESTION:
    Weight loss health incentive…ethical? ?
I know somebody who has low self esteem due to several factors. I feel most of it is related to her weight and how she feels about her health compared to the demanding standards our society imposes on women. I have been pondering a incentive based program for her to lose weight and get healthy, which I feel will help boost her confidence tremendously. My hesitation is mostly about how ethical my plan is.

    The plan:
I know this individual would like to do the following,
    Get healthy
    Lose weight
    Have sex

As of today she has been unable to achieve any of these goals.

My plan is to help encourage her to lose weight/ get healthier is by providing a sexual incentive for reaching minni goals that (we mutually agree upon) bring her closer to her overall goals.

These goals will be specific to make it easy to determine to if the goal has been achieved, the minni goals will also encourage healthy weight loss and not crash diets or dehydration.

And example of a weight lose goal would be a sexual favor of your choice (including sex) for every 10lb you lose in 5 weeks. (This is set as not to go against the doctor recommended 2lb per week) (Currently needs to lose 70-100lb)

An example of a health goal would be cut 1:00 minutes off your mile time, (currently above 15 min)

By creating a network of goals to meet this allows her to pursue other goals if say she has trouble with the weight loss from time to time. (I feel this will help prevent desperate measures)

The reason I’m asking this question is I feel that this person could benefit tremendously from a program like this but would like to know if you guys feel this is an ethical approach to helping motivate an individual to achieve their goals.

    Thanks 

    • ANSWER:
I don't know what to say exactly.

I know that people who exercise reward themselves with a cookie, day at the spa, a meal at their favorite restaurant.....but...sex? That's very interesting.

Are you the sexual tool in this approach to help your friend? I don't think this breaks any ethical rules, but it definitely could become complicated.
I've never even thought about that, but it seems that his would work. Women want to be viewed as sexy from males, even more so by women who are trying to loose weight and have self esteem issues.

If she says yes and obviously you're fine with it...then go ahead!

  36. QUESTION:
    Weight loss questions and plan?
If I start this diet tomorrow and end it in a month or two and will I/can I lose 10 to 15 pounds (5~7kg)? And, my last question, do you think I'd be getting everything my body needs? Should I take vitamins, eat a protein bar, and/or bump up the calories?

    - walking 6 miles on saturday and sunday (I go about 4 mph)
    - 1,000 skips on an unweighted jump rope each night
    - eating 1000 to 1200 calories of fruits, veggies, lean meats (mainly tuna and chicken), and special K cereal (normal)
    - basic stretches everyday
    - no junk food, no soda (*cries* not even diet soda), nothing processed
    - only drink water and tea (w/o any sugar, just plain ole' tea, not exactly green though, just tea)

    Info/stats:
    Age: 15
Weight: 122~5 pounds (different scales say different things)
    Height: 5'4"
    BMI: 21.6
    BMR: 1400-ish
Trouble areas: Butt and hips (Exercises to help these areas are needed. Suggestions?)

    NOTES:
    * I made this diet so I would eat well, do exercises that I won't hate and not get bored and quit, no no need to menation getting bored with "such a limited selection of food".
    * I'm a small framed woman/girl, and as of now I do little to no exercise, so I've heard 1000 calories is fine to consume, I'll bump it up to 1300-1500 calories (More?) once I get into my exercise regiment and keep it at 1000~1200 on non-exercising days.
*I do NOT, repeat, DO NOT want to go into this "starvation mode" thing I hear about, so please tell me if I will be going into it, so I can replan now!

    * I know I'm normal weight. I know if I lose 10~15 pounds I'll be 110 to 105 pounds (which isn't really my goal, my goal is 107 (107 is still normal weight for 5"4' or another goal is when I look good and feel great). I'm aware of what I am doing and will stop if this diet makes me sick in any way, shape or form.

Thank you to everyone who gives a useful answer. : )

    • ANSWER:
Sounds to me like you have done your research and that sounds like an aggressive yet sensible way to lose weight. As for if you are or are not going to lose 10 or 15lbs in a certain amount of time, well, that's not possible to say :) I would suggest you aim to lower your percentage fat rather than your weight as it will give you a better indication of how well your regime is working. You are not substantially overweight enough to be able to measure by weight. Go for it! I get the feeling you will achieve your goals!

  37. QUESTION:
A bit overweight? I want to lose some weight, thanks?
You see I'm kind of normal on the top of my body but once you get to my hips and lower I'm really fat, my legs seem to be as fat as a 150kg women's and I'm only 15years old. My mom says I'm seriously fat, then how do i loose that weight? Please tell me? And the weight on my legs and no medicine, diets etc. Can you plan a weight loss exercise program or something for me and I'm 169cm tall. and 67kg, most of the weight is from my legs.

    • ANSWER:
detox is the best way to loose excess fat from ur body for ever
These new habits help you keep the bloat off and lose more weight.
It’s well known that today’s secret of most men and women for successful weight loss and maintenance is the Medifast
weight loss program. The first and best way to burn fat is to modify your current diet. There are three simple ways
you can begin to modify: reduce calories, reduce sodium, and reduce fat. For example, by substituting a glass of
water for a carbonated beverage, you can cut approximately 150 calories or more, depending on how much is consumed.
Even if it were fruit juice instead of water, you would still reduce calories by approximately 50 - 100..
what causes these unwanted gains in weight and bodyfat? There are three possible reasons this can happen:
      (1) Eat late at night (2) Exceed your normal caloric intake (3) Lack of exercise or physical activity.
best way to speed up the metabolism is by increasing meal frequency. Instead of eating 2 - 3
meals per day, try eating 4 - 5 small meals per day, or 3 meals and 2 healthy snack meals.

  39. QUESTION:
Is 1200 calories too few for my weight loss regimen?
I've started a new diet, and originally was planning to hover at around 1000 calories, but I read somewhere that 1200 was the minimum necessary for the average woman to function normally. I need to lose a lot of weight, so I figured the less calories I eat, the better, but I want to be smart about it.

I've been exercising more - taking the stairs instead of the elevator (I live on the fifth floor, and most of my classes are on the third or fourth floors of their buildings), and a few light things in the morning like crunches and weights. I'm planning to start doing two mile power walks in the mornings, too.

My typical diet already supplements the "healthy" alternative - I don't drink sodas, I only drink skim milk, I only eat 12 grain or wheat breads, and the like. My primary problem is that I eat a lot more than I should, and eat way too many snacks and sweets.

Basically, should I be eating closer to 1500 calories, or is 1200 okay?

    • ANSWER:
What everyone above me said is correct. The reason they say to eat from 1200 - 1500 calories a day as a bare minimum is that if you eat under this ammount your body will behave as it is starving and it will slow it's metabolism down in order to save itself from dying. When your betabolism is slowed down your body will burn off calories at a much slower rate.

Thats why if you want to lose weight and burn calories you will have to eat over 1200 - 1500 calories a day so that your body doesn't go into starvation mode and slow down it's metabolism.

  40. QUESTION:
Any body know about wight loss retreats? 10 points!?
I was looking for a weight loss retreat!!
Hopefully you can help. Here's what I am looking for:
    1. can stay for maybe a month without cost threw the roof
    2. Women/ youngish oriented (Not needed)
    3. Maybe say a plan you can set up to work& get to stay
    4. Teaches cooking according to something like the South Beach Diet plan, or Zone.

    Thanks for your help!

    • ANSWER:
      Start in your kitchen.

You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep your fat percentage high. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

If you starve yourself, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn't get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn't slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!

  41. QUESTION:
    Serious weight loss question?
First off, I do not want to hear "diet and exercise are the only ways....etc etc.." Im a biology major and Im not stupid, Im not asing for a miracle weight loss pill.

I am currently trying to lose weight and as the first step I bought a Wii. (I dont live close to any gyms and get easily bored with the same workout dvd things over and over again and since its in the 90s and up in the summer here going outside and walking is not even an option. I got the My Fitness Coach thing for the Wii as well as Wii sports that came with it and have started those workouts doing anywhere from 30-60 minute workouts 5 days a week with rest days in between. I also have started eating soo much healthier than I used to (being just out of college). I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, oatmeal, cottage cheese, low fat snacks like reduced fat wheat thins, etc. I do not eat alot of protein (I hate cooking meat for myself) so I do plan on getting a protein shake mix or something to supplement that, as well as a fiber supplement, like benefiber. My main problem is I feel as if I have a slow metabolism and that I dont have enough energy, Im only 22, I should have tons of energy but due to stress from previous relationships, family problems and school problems Ive gotten to the point where I am constantly lazy and have no desire to do alot, and the fact that there is nothing to do around the house (another reason for getting the Wii).

What is a good weight loss supplement, not something that is supposed to make you skinny just from taking it, I know those are all fakes, but just something that will actually boost energy and reduce my wanting to eat when Im bored. Is the Slimquick a good one for women? I really just need something to go along with all the healthy changes Ive made so I can keep it up and so I wont stop working out just because of no energy to do so. Thanks to anyone who has a serious answer!! Other answers will be flagged.

I would only recommend Isotonix line of supplements when available because:

1st, Isotonix is the only isotonic form of supplements in the market that provides superior absorption rate that pill form cannot beat. In order to form pills, filling, addictive needs to be added, these are waste to our body and increase digestion time.

In additions, no matter if we drink, eat or take pills, everything need to be broken down into isotonic solution in our stomach first before our body can absorb. Stomach is very high acidic, thus most of the nutrients are destroyed in our stomach before reaching small intestine for absorption. So with pill form, you are looking for absorption rate of about 10 to 40% depending on our body's digestion ability and the ingredients to form the pills. Please keep in mind that human's digestion ability decease by age.

With Isotonix line, since it's in isotonic form by adding certain amount of water to one capful of powder (it tastes great too!), vitamin won't stay in stomach and will go to intestine within 5 minutes so you are looking for absorption rate of 90% and higher, higher absorption rate even compare to IV injection.

No filling or binding are added to the Isotonix line so you are guarantee to have best potency for the vitamin you take.

Yes you can buy vitamin for less than 10 bucks, but if it doesn't help to adjust the issues, you are wasting your money no matter how small amount. With Isotonix, it's high absorption and high potency for the body, thus making every penny worth it.

  42. QUESTION:
Did you set a weight loss goal for your wedding and are you succeeding?
When I set my wedding date in May for October, I set a goal to lose 10 lbs. I thought 5 months would be more than enough time to lose that much weight, however I have only lost 1 lb. and it's already August. I am at what is considered a healthy weight (5'7 and 140 lbs.) but I want to slim down some more. We are going to Hawaii for our Honeymoon and I don't want to look overweight in my bathing suit.

Over the past year and a half, I lost 23 lbs. by using my treadmill 2-3 days a week and I started drinking diet drinks and cut my portion sizes. I think the problem is that I have reached my plateau and need to "up the anti" by running more times a week (at least 5). The problem is that I am so tired when I get home from work that it's easy to talk myself out of going on the treadmill. The stress of wedding planning has also made me more tired. I just don't get that I so badly want to lose weight but that I'm not doing the work it takes. I am usually the type to meet or exceed my goals, so I don't get what the problem is. I've seen other women with the same problem. Did you / do you have a weight loss goal and are you succeeding? Is so, how?

    • ANSWER:
I'm at the same place as you. I have 8lbs left to reach my goal. But I've plateaued. These last 8 pounds are going to be a real pain in the butt to shed.

I too am exhausted when I get home from work, and often back out of my planned exercise. But even when I jog my 5 miles and run my sprints it's not helping much anymore. Luckily I currently look good, so if I walk down the isle at this weight, I'll be okay with it. But it's frustrating to be so near the goal I'd set, but not reaching it.

I will tell you one thing I've found that is motivating: When my fiance wants to exercise too. On days when I come home tired, if my fiance says he wants to join me on my jog I always go anyways. But if I come home tired and the FI says he's skipping, I'm way more likely to plop down on the sofa with him!

  43. QUESTION:
Genetics really dictates weight loss success?
My friend Dina always complains about being overweight said that not all women have the body type to become slim (shes not talking size zero, shes talking at least a size six). She explained that every woman has a different body type which dictates how much weight they can lose.

To me that doesn't sound ridiculous. Yeah, I know that the female body comes in all shapes and fat gets stored differently in all women, but to say that depending on a woman's body types depends on how slim she can get down to sounds ridiculous. In my opinion, she is just too lazy to work the excess body weight off. It takes dedication and diet to reach any ideal size. I know this because I have a good friend who was pretty big when we were growing up. She still has a very curvy body, but now the sista is rockin' a size two.

Dina told me her genetic make up does not enable her to reach a size to. But, she is 5'2 and only about 30lbs overweight... plus all her sisters and her mother are really slim themselves. I think my friend is very insecure around us girls. She constantly pokes reference to my body size; insisting that I'm unhealthy and I should gain a few lbs.

When I invite her to come chill with us, she always asks what we plan to do for the day. If I respond that we're going shopping, she turns us down and lies that she has made plans elsewhere. If only she knew that we don't give a damn about how she looks. She our friend regardless. She is a rad person to be around.

Even if she is correct, in her case I don't think its impossible.

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like Dina is using the excuse to justify why she feels she cannot succeed in losing weight.
I don't suggest you encourage her to lose weight unless she tells you that she is working on losing weight because she might interpret that as you confirming the way she feels. Perhaps compliment her. Tell her she looks pretty the way she looks in her clothes. That might boost her self-esteem allowing her to feel more comfortable around you.

  44. QUESTION:
I need a serious wait loss and dieting plan?
I'm 13 and my thighs are bigger than every picture in google images.

number 1. I can't get a good diet because my stupid dad keeps buying snacks and says "wtf?!?! your hungry?!?! but I just bought 2 bags of friggen doritos!!!" ugh... I tell him to get something friggen healthy and he buys 2 bananas, and plus we only go shopping once a month and eat frozen shit every day!!! is there a clean way to lose weight by only eating a certain order of foods? number 2. I can't get 30 mins of excersize because I wont go jogging outside because I live in Arizona and don't want to be shot or abducted. I don't want to do a bunch of squats etc. because I keep getting a feeling it dose not work. ( please don't link me to a website because i'm 13 years old and I don't apply to 40 yr old women.) If you have a plan for the best and only thin(s) to eat and some specific plan of excersizes I can do at home... than great! and answer this.

also, can lifely stress make you gain weight? because I feel that it's the cause for all my problems :( my dad needs to be hung.

    • ANSWER:
I find that drinking water helps a lot in shedding weight. It isn't so much the water but the lack of sugar that's in drinks that does it.
I also walk whenever I can. Walking is very good for losing weight, so is eating less,.. Try it.

  45. QUESTION:
How to exercise for weight loss on a VERY busy schedule?
I'm about to go back to college after graduating two years ago and I'm planning to keep my full time job.

I've been trying very hard to turn my eating habits around. I'm highly aware that if I want to lose weight, I MUST have a healthy diet and retain healthy eating habits.

I work behind a desk for 40 hours every week and it hasn't been very conducive for weight loss. I'm used to being on my feet and constantly moving. To be perfectly honest, sitting down all day makes me more exhausted than being on my feet, and it makes my back and knees ache, so when I get off I have a hard time finding the motivation to get up and exercise.

I'm aware I need to exercise 3-5 days every week.

Now, here comes my real question. I need realistic exercise ideas/routines I can do on a seriously busy schedule.

Once classes kick in this is what I have to work with:

    MONDAY
I have a 45 minute drive to class.
Class lasts from 8AM-4:30PM with a 30 minute lunch break.
I have a 20 minute drive to work.
    Work from 5PM-10PM.
    I have a 25 minute drive home.

    TUESDAY
I have a 45 minute drive to class.
Class lasts from 8AM-3:30PM with a 30 minute break.
I have a 20 minute drive to work.
    Work lasts from 4PM-10PM.
    I have a 25 minute drive home.

    WEDNESDAY
I have a 45 minute drive to class.
Class lasts from 8AM-4:30PM with a 30 minute break.
I have a 20 minute drive to work.
    Work lasts from 5PM-10PM.
    I have a 25 minute drive home.

    THURSDAY
I have a 45 minute drive to class.
Class lasts from 8AM-3:30PM with a 30 minute break.
I have a 20 minute drive to work.
    Work lasts from 4PM-10PM.
    I have a 25 minute drive home.

    FRIDAY
I have a 25 minute drive to work.
Work lasts from 8AM-6:15PM with a 15 minute break.
    I have a 25 minute drive home.

    SATURDAY
I will be working a side job, hours depending on when I'm needed. Possibly working from 8AM-9PM.

    SUNDAY
I have a 25 minute drive to work.
Work lasts from 8AM-4:15PM with a 15 minute break.
    I have a 25 minute drive home.

This is on top of showering, sleeping, caring for my pets, cleaning my house and occasionally (ha) speaking to/seeing my family.

It's an extremely busy schedule (and I'm already aware I'm not going to be getting the ideal amount of sleep, but, presently I don't really have any other option).

I already park on the back row of the parking lot at work and make a point to make the walk in and out brisk. My dog typically gets 20-30 minute walks daily. I've got my diet under control.

Anyone out there have any exercise tips for a young, busy woman?

    • ANSWER:
Doing an effective whole body conditioning and weight loss workout
can be done entirely at home without any fancy equipment. A couple of
dumbbells is all you will need. (Even if you don't have dumbbells
there is usually something lying around the house that is heavy enough
      to substitute in for them).
Here is a list of 20 exercises you can do right in your own home for
a great whole body conditioning and fat loss workout.

      Exercises:

      Group 1:

      Bodyweight Squats
      Bulgarian Split Squats
      Y-Squats
      Prisoner Squat
      Reverse Lunge
      Step Ups
      One Leg "Get Ups"

      Group 2:

      Push Ups
      Push Up and Point
      Mountain Climbers
      Decline Push Ups
      Push Ups/Stick Ups
      Step Up and Press
      Squat and Press

      Group 3:

      Plank
      Side Plank
      Curl and Press
      One Arm Rows
      Bird Dogs
      One Leg Deadlifts

Pick one exercise from each group and do them all back to back for a
mini circuit of 3 exercises. Do each exercise for a timed interval of
10 seconds for a total of 30 seconds per mini circuit.
As you get better at them work up to doing each exercise for 20
seconds for a total of 60 seconds per mini circuit.
Take 30-60 seconds rest between mini circuits.
For beginners do a total of 3 mini circuits to start. Working up to 4
or 5 as you get better at them.
Once you're ready to move to the next level add a second mini circuit
by choose 3 different exercises (one from each grouping). Do your
second mini circuit with the same time of work to rest ratio as your
      fist.
If you feel you are already at an advanced level you can add one or
two more mini circuits up to a total of 4 mini circuits. These 20
exercises are just an example of what is possible, there are dozens
more that would work in this mini circuit style, you can incorporate
any exercise that you like into these mini circuits. This style of
workout is a great complete whole body conditioning and fat loss
program you can do right at home in under 45 minutes.

  46. QUESTION:
effectiveness of these weight loss / energy pills?
looking for people who have either taken these or are within the medical field.

i'm currently on synthroid and my thyroid levels have evened out with little improvement on my symptoms. i went to gnc yesterday to get hair/skin/nails vitamins (the synthroid was claimed to be damaging to the aforementioned and i've definitely recognized a real decline in all three) and decided to ask about force factor. i heard while it's advertised as a muscle builder, it doesn't actually build muscle but rather burns fat. their workers claimed they never heard of it to do such and brought me this: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3959234#pr-header-3959234 'oxyelite pro'. they mentioned other coworkers had extreme weight loss and energy results with it personally and from people who'd tried the free samples (which they didn't have anymore). the person helping me mentioned that she took these: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4190908#pr-header-4190908 "woman's ultra mega active" and said the weight loss and energy weren't as intense, but still occurred and it was a healthier mix. the only person who really posted that they had weight loss on these claimed they're (according to reviews) taking these, another diet pill, and going to the gym 5x weekly so i wonder what these would do without that. although i do go to a gym at least weekly and don't eat all too horribly but am not currently on a strict diet. i went with the latter for now and took all 7 pills in the pack this morning (which is a really annoying process as opposed to just one a day in the "oxyelite". while my stomach recently (past 6 months, since being on synthroid) has become weaker and acid reflux symptoms aren't uncommon for myself, i haven't encountered any of the stomach issues other's mentioned in the reviews yet, but i don't have any fantastic amount of energy, either. neither of the two claim there's adverse affects with thyroid conditions nor did my endocrinologist mention i couldn't take something prior when i asked during my last appointment. i'm wondering if anyone's taken either of the two or has advise on the situation. i am looking for energy and weight loss. i'm also prone to anxiety problems but surprisingly have never experienced any from caffeine or diet pills before. uninterested in obvious answers such as diet and exercise, i'm aware of the concept. more so medical or personal advice on first hand results or what might work best for me personally with the listed information. i plan on continuing these for at least a week or two before making a decision as gnc claimed even if the product was depleted completely, it's still refundable if it doesn't work.

  47. QUESTION:
Super Weight Gain After Baby, Trying To Loose Weight.?
My daughter is now 16 almost 17 months. I was a week away from 18 years old when she was born, before I became pregnant I weighed between 165-175 lbs, I am 5'10". I gave birth at about 245 lbs, after the baby I got down to 220 pretty fast. But a year and some months later I am maxed out at 260 lbs. So a couple days ago I started the slim fast liquid diet and I've lost about 8 lbs so far. Its is pretty easy during the day when I'm a work, I work at a Law Office and stay pretty busy. But when I get home its torture. It is a 6 week jump start diet, after the 6 weeks I plan on joining weight watchers to maintain and continue to loose weight.

Anyways, for women who have had any weight loss success after a huge weight gain, what kind of diet did you use, how did it go, how much did you loose, etc? I am really anxious about loosing weight now that the swimming season is once again upon us.

    • ANSWER:
I got my Dr to prescribe me the lowest dose of Phentermine last month. I've lost a little over 10 lbs so far. It makes me feel like crap though. You can only take it for a short amount of time. It works by supressing your appetite. You are basically never hungry. I have to force myself to eat fruits and veggies sometimes because I know I need the nutrition.

  48. QUESTION:
    Weight loss after pregnancy?
I am currently 7 months and a week pregnant due on June 30th (like most women will probably go early). I was 135 pounds and 5'8" to start out with and went to the gym 3 days a week and was in great shape before. Now obviously I understand my body is changing as I am growing my own little person but I am wondering what an ideal timeframe is to lose the weight after. I am hoping to be able to wear a bikini by August 26th as I have a vacation planned.

This will allow me exactly 56 days from my due date (unless I go sooner) to lose about 35 pounds which is the usual gain. I am told I am all belly and gained about 24 pounds so far.

I will obviously be walking and getting as much exercise as I can within reason from my doctor but will be changing my diet drastically to eating things like protein shakes, chicken, salmon, steamed veggies and so forth.

Will I be able to lose it in that timeframe? Any advice?
I will be breastfeeding for 1 month if my breast implants allow.

    • ANSWER:
Well, I can only give you my own experience. I gained 60 pounds with the pregnancy but lost 40 in the first three weeks. I was retaining TONS of water! I breastfed (for 9 months) which helped a great deal I believe. It took another month to lose that last 20 pounds to get back to my prepregnancy weight.

Now...if you gain 35 per se, you will automatically lose ABOUT 10-12 from the birth alone. You will continue to lose a lot of your pregnancy weight with your blood supply going back to normal, your uterus shrinking and your retained water being flushed from your system. That probably leaves you with about 12 pounds of 'fat' to lose. With your athletic shape and proper diet, you should not have any problem losing 6 pounds of fat over that 2 month period of time.

AND...if you don't lose every stinkin' pound, you'll be pretty darn close. Good luck and congrats on the baby!!!

P.S. If you breastfeed for 2 months you will burns THOUSANDS of extra calories! If you're able, think about it....plus it's good for your baby too!

  49. QUESTION:
Best diet and exercise plan for muscle building and fat loss?
Hi, I'm 28, Female, 5'3, 123-125 lbs. I am a runner, I train and run in two 1/2 marathons per year. With all this running I cannot seem to cut the fat off my body. I am hungry all the time when I am running and seem to crave sugar and junk, i never gain weight but i never lose it either. I am inspired by women that are very fit and lean. I do NOT want giant, and very pronounced muscles. I want to look fit, toned and sexy. My weight lifting consists of boy-pushups 2 sets of 20, and crunches-leg lifts-plank. Could someone help me get started on diet and an excersize plan or point me in the direction of a great site to visit? Supplements?
    Thank You

    • ANSWER:
Your described body measurements give me the impression that you're actually quite alluring already and it would be a shame and a crime if anyone kicked you out of bed based on what you're telling us.

The only advice I'd give you is to get more disciplined with cutting out the junk and sweets immediately after intense exercise. Just don't eat it. You've already demonstrated that you've got the exercise goals within your grasp...just expand it to your food intake.

Another thing; you didn't really describe in sufficient detail your exercise regimen. You said you trained for two half-marathons in a year, but that leaves a large amount of time not accounted for. Are you running regularly? How much?

Cross training by bicycling can also benefit you. 2-2 and a half hours of intense bicycling can burn almost as many calories as running, depending on your average running speed.

  50. QUESTION:
Dieting Tips for Women with PCOS?
PCOS makes me CRAVE carbs, the one thing that I should definitely not be eating a lot of. It's very frustrating to say the least. I can say that, once diagnosed, I found it much easier to deal with the unexplained weight gain because I had something concrete to focus on. And there are many support systems out there to help me. The one I've found the most helpful is http://pcos.insulitelabs.com -- they offer a comprehensive plan for weight loss. They also provide support blogs on the topic. This one is particularly helpful: http://pcos.insulitelabs.com/blog/index.php/?cat=12

Does anyone else have tips for PCOS diets?

    • ANSWER:
Some other women with PCOS that I've talked to have also said that they found taking Glucophage was of help to them in the treatment of their PCOS. I also have found that drinking a lot of water can help with weight loss.

Another site that I've gone to before for information about PCOS and they also have online boards at the site and also groups for the e-mail is at: http://www.pcosupport.org (they have an elist to help those that are trying to lose weight as well)
