  1. QUESTION:
Indian diet plan for weight loss?
I need to loss weight. What is the good indian food diet plan for weight loss?

  2. QUESTION:
What is the best weight loss diet plan?
I am 17 years old, female. Prom is coming up in 3 months and I put on about 10 pounds over the summer that I want to take off plus a little bit more. I am 5’0 and 119 pounds. What I want to lose most, other than all around is my love handles, stomach (#1), butt (sticks out =/), and my arms are a little too fat for my body.

I am planning on going to the gym everyday for about 1.5-2 hours and eating healthy, however, I need a little help with following it and what would be beneficial and what wouldn’t.

I went to the gym today, for the first time for this diet plan/weight losing plan. I did the treadmill for 5ish minutes fast walking (warm-up/cool down) and about 10 minutes running (not SO fast, but running) and then did the sitting bike for 10 minutes/1.5 miles. It was my first day so I didn’t do much.

I am planning on eating healthy so it helps with my weight loss as well and my face.

I plan to eat Special K cereal with 1% milk in the morning (615 AM)
Lunch at school: apple and water? If I should eat more, maybe a sandwich (wheat bread with a slice of cheese since I’m a vegetarian, would that be healthy?) (1030 AM)
100 calorie pack? Or a granola bar would be healthier? (12-2ish, anytime between there)
Dinner: Indian food, but healthy, like soups and veggies.
Snacks during the day: apples, plums, oranges/tangerines/clementines, watermelon.
6 bottles of water per day.
    Not eating after 7 PM.

I am planning to go to the school gym right after school from 230-3 and then come home and go to my gym by my house from 345-5?
What machines should I do? And how long about? (How do I keep myself from getting bored=( lol)
Also like on treadmill/elliptical should I do incline/hill, if it makes a difference?

Also I have a bit of acne on my face. Will exercising and eating like that help clear it up?

When will I see results? And is it possible to lose a bit of love handles/stomach/arm fat in about less than 3 months?

Thank you so much and if you have any other experience suggestions/ideas please help. If anything is unhealthy (foods that I listed) or exercises that will not help/help please tell me, thank you =)

If you ever did a diet/exercise plan that worked/is working in about 3 months, please tell.

"Also I have a bit of acne on my face. Will exercising and eating like that help clear it up?"

Yes, think of it this way, instead of eating chips & soda, you'd be eating fruits & vegetables & drinking water... which has very little oil compared to junk food.

Specifically, sweating will open your pours up and you can wipe away all the oil pretty much. What you want to do after you sweat is rince your face with cold water.

"When will I see results? And is it possible to lose a bit of love handles/stomach/arm fat in about less than 3 months?"

You'll probably see results after a week, but your starting from square one, so it will take your body some time to get into shape but if you eat right & watch your calories, the lbs will be shedding off.

"What machines should I do? And how long about? (How do I keep myself from getting bored=( lol)"

I too have workout ADHD, so this is what id recommend:

Cardio workout for the out of shape:
Day 1: 10 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bicycle. (30 mins total)
Day 2: 15 minutes of treadmill and elliptical. (30 mins total)
Day 3: 10 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike & just 5 minutes of stair stepper. (35 mins total)
Day 4: 15 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike (45 minutes total)
Day 5: 15 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, then 5 minutes of the stair stepper with an additional 5 minutes of jumping rope. (50 mins total)

As you begin to get more fit, more confident in your physical health, you can begin to increase your total workouts by 5 minutes and the intensity by an extra level.

Good luck! You can make those other b*tches jealous if you stay motivated.

Make your own "100 calorie packs":

      -6 almonds
      -6 baby carrots
      -1/4 an apple.
      = 100 cal.

You can eat one in the beginning of every class to keep your metabolism up.. plus a bottle of water.

    • ANSWER:
For the acne, make sure you aren't wearing makeup when you go to work out.

I did the following stuff and lost about 10 lbs in less than a month. I did my cardio first thing in the morning and my workout in the afternoon.

Here's a few things you can do to get in shape:

      1. Eat six small, healthy meals per day. Breakfast should be eaten within two hours of waking up. Stop drinking soda.

      2. When you eat, keep serving sizes in mind. A snack with only 100 calories isn't too healthy when you eat three servings at a time.

      3. Keep up the cardio. Remember to switch up intensity and duration. I suggest running, that's my favorite. Don't run every day, though. Alternate with swimming or biking, etc.

      4. Incorporate a good core routine (planks, sit ups, leg raises, and some lower back exercises), pushups, pull ups, squats.

      5. I get a lot of stuff from runnersworld.com, they have running plans and workout videos.

Do all that and you'll look good.

  6. QUESTION:
My friends amazing weight loss (80lbs in 4 months) is her plan viable?
My friend recently lost a lot of weight like about 80lbs in like 16 weeks losing about 5lbs a week. She is 31 and 5 foot 5 inches tall and started at 220lbs and went down to 140lbs she hope to lose another 5lbs and then just focus on maintenance and toning. I have seen her in her under ware and apart from a couple of tiny stretch marks on her tummy she looks great no loose skin etc.
When I asked her how she did it she sent me this (Cut and paste from her email to me):
My weight loss plan was real simple. I'm a vegetarian but before I ate a lot of ready meals and was always hungry so snacked on sweets and pastries, cheese and fizzy drinks to keep going etc. I changed my diet so that I ate all home cooked food, all fresh veggies, fruit, home baked wholemeal bead, brown rice, lentils, yogurt etc I had lot's of salads and indian dahls etc and supplemented my diet with a good quality multivitamin and the odd protein shake to help with muscle repair. I drank lot's of water and green tea. My total calories averaged about 1800 a day. I had trouble eating it all sometimes as it seemed so much!
As for working out I did about an hour to an hour and a half of cardio everyday 6 days a week (which is a lot considering I was total couch potato before, but I love it now) mixing it up to keep my body guessing so one day I'd do interval training and the next day I'd do a long moderate intensity walk on the treadmill at an incline. When I got fitter I did spinning classes, which were tough but made a big diffrence. I also did resistance training with free weights three times a week about 30 minutes each time. I made sure I got lot's of sleep and had a rest day every week. I tend to put on muscle quickly so I think that really helped me to drop the weight fast so resistance training is not optional.
I used the Sauna at the gym a couple of times a weel as well, which I think helped and had a course of 3 full body wraps to help inch loss and skin tighening as well as using body brushing and self massage with oils every day to keep my skin nice.
Simple but tough, consistancy was the key!

    ---End of her email ----

Now I need to lose weight as well but it just seems unrealistic to me that she lost 80lbs in four months doing just the above and she has no lose sagging skin, even her boobs look nice. What do you think is this really possible? Do you think she is lying or was she just very lucky to have lost so much weight so quick?

    • ANSWER:
It's possible. When you are that heavy - the weight tends to drop off quite quickly at the beginning.

You can do it if you really put the effort in. The exercise is the most important. If you just diet then you probably will get stretchmarks and sagging skin. You need to try and keep everything tight.

      Good luck

  7. QUESTION:
weight loss rate has reduced .. what should I do?
I have been working out from 3 months now , but now my weight loss rate has reduced. Initially I was reducing 2 pounds a weeks( have lost 11 poounds so far) but now its 1lb in 1 week or 2 weeks at times.

I have been changing my excersise plan every 30 days. I even follow a healthy diet plan and stick to my calorie budget (thanks to my ipod touch- helps me track it).

My routine is as follows :

    Morning:
I wake up 5:30 AM, freshen up, have 4 almonds, and hit the gym by 6:15 AM ( its like 20 min walk from my home..which makes it like 40 min of walking everyday.. n i am not a slow walker).
At the GYM, I am my workout split into 4 days
    D1 ( chest+biceps+ cardio(30min))
    D2 ( back+triceps+cardio(30min))
    D3 (thighs+hamstring/calf+shoulders + cardio (30 min))
I have been asked to do cardio on any of the 2 days in d1,d2,d3.
    D4 (cardio - 50 min)
I am done by 7:30 am which is arnd 1 n 1/2 hr.
8 AM: glass of skimmed milk + cornflakes + eggs (on some days)

10 :30 AM : half cup tea with 1 or 2 digesttive biscutis / any fruit juice on some days

12:30 pm: lunch - either an indian meal (1 chapati, 1 spoon of rice with more serving of dal, vegetable n salad with one cup of curd) OR a bowl of salad with either soup or a fruit juice (on some days).

3:00 pm : either tea with digestive bisuits or fruit juice or butter milk (on some days) with boiled corns(add only salt and lime to it).

6:00 pm : few nuts (cashews ) or biscuits

    8 :30 pm : 1 chappati(wheat bread) + dal or vegetable serving. ( sometimes take a 20 min walk after dinner )

    I sleep by 9:45 pm.

I workout 6 days a week and dont miss a single day.

I am off sweets, icecreams, junk food etc all this time.. not even once have I compromised on my diet plan.. i pick up the right stuff to eat with just the right quantity even if i have to eat out.
n I forgot to mention I even drink abt 4 litres of water everyday.

Well.. this schedule has kept me going and has helped me loose weight so far.. but from past 2 weeks I am not seeing much progress.

Can anyone suggest me what I should change/add/remove in this current plan which will help me reach my goal of reducing another 8 pounds? Its my last mile :)
I guess ppl didnt understand my question.

I am not starting fresh. I have been seeing results with this plan which is quite healthy.Haven't felt tired or fatigued ever because of this. I enjoy doing it and I dont have to compromise. I do enjoy this routine. What I was looking for are some suggestions on how to tweak this so as to boost up my results, cause I feel it has slowed down a bit. I guess its like a weight loosers block..

    • ANSWER:
I don't want to sound mean, I honestly want to answer your question so don't take offense- your routine sounds super boring, think of ways to really spice it up; take a dance class, run really fast to the gym, by a high speed workout DVD and jump around your living room with the music blasted; eat more protein and less bread- and it's okay to have a little ice cream- I also don't see any calcium in your diet. That's my advice:) Have fun with your workout and diet- don't make it such pure drudgery

    Is this healthy for me?
Hey i am 16 years old and i weight around 124 lbs. I am loss weight to 120 lbs. I am kinda active, i don't eat or drink any sugary stuff, since i am diabetic and also i don't eat too much. But still i can't loss weight. I don't know what else to do. This is basically what i eat everyday.

Breakfast - 1 slice of whole wheat bread with half cup of tea

Lunch - 1 slice of pizza or a sub

Afternoon - half cup of tea

    Dinner - Sub or indian food ( 2 roti's)

Please Please help me out with better diet plan thanks

    • ANSWER:
You're not losing weight because you're not eating enough food. By what you have listed, you are putting your body into starvation mode, which forces it to retain fat and calories because it thinks it's not going to survive on that little bit of food every day.

You need to up your calories to around 1400-1600 calories EVERY day! You want to eat meals that are around 400 calories each, and eat every 3-4 hours. Small meals are the key. By eating smaller meals more often, you're giving your body just enough calories for it to process at one time without forcing too many calories into your system or not enough calories.

The whole wheat bread is great, but you could pair it with peanut butter and some walnuts or almonds.
Pizza is bad. Too much fat and calories, no matter what you put on the pizza. Use that as an occasional treat. The sub can be a healthy option but it depends on the bread and what you put on it.
Indian food is delicious, but you need more than just the bread.

If you want a good diet plan that works and is easy to follow, try the Flat Belly Diet from Prevention magazine. It's easy to follow, has delicious and HEALTHY meals, and I ended up losing almost 30 poounds on it, in less than 3 months.

    • ANSWER:
Looks perfect. I personally would have a really hard time actually following planned out meals like that every day but if you can do it, more power to you! I'm assuming you'll be using protein powder in your smoothies, I would recommend using pea protein powder opposed to a soy isolate because it looks like you'll already be consuming a lot of soy each day. Also think about getting a BCAA supplement it will be helpful for your strength training so that you're getting essential and non-essential amino acids to help promote protein absorption and shorten recovery time. I use Xtend brand it's vegan and it's actually really refreshing to drink after a workout. I think you'll be very happy with your progress over the next month. Good luck :D
